The inspiration that drives Biogiraffe is the story that lives inside of each one of us. Often, that inspiration is very close to home. David Woolson started Brazos Valley Barbell in the summer of 2015. Recognizing the need for a unique gym in the Bryan/College Station area, David's vision manifested into a space unlike any other in the region. Brazos Valley Barbell is the premier powerlifting gym in the region. Additionally, the gym offers the best equipment for olympic weightlifting as well as general weight training. David also offers personal training and coaching services. As an elite powerlifter and personal trainer his expertise is spread to those that seek his programming.
Your 2nd and 3rd grade students will enjoy reading David's story. We've broken the story into four parts that will allow your students to read (whether guided or individually) the Biogiraffe and analyze the content. Our resources will guide your students though the economics standards for your grade.
In the 2nd grade, students will utilize a Circular Flow Chart. Though typically reserved for the senior year of high school, the circular flow chart is an illustrative way to look at the way David interacts in the economy.
For the third grade we offer an Expense Report and a Fill-in-the-Blank resource. The Expense Report will allow your students to determine David's inflow and outflow of money. Students will learn the differences between expenses and credits. The Fill-in-the-Blank resource is a journey through the way David makes interactions in the economy.
As always, we've included our Geoglossary and our Giraffic organizer resources to further augment the Biogiraffe lesson.
